Hi, my name is Ciara Moore and I provide therapeutic Adult Counselling (age 18+) and Relationship Counselling for couples. I am based in Derry Londonderry and my clients come from the general Foyle & North West area including Letterkenny and Donegal.

I have a range of qualifications and work experience, see below. But what drives me the most is a commitment to provide a counselling service that makes a difference. I have developed a skill set that I share with my clients to help them deal with difficult or painful times in their life

Why am I a counsellor?

I have a strong belief that everyone needs help from time to time and this drove me to enter the social work field. However, for me, I felt there was something missing. I decided that it was the ability to help one to one, to get to know a person properly, to spend time on the individual needs of that one person.

However my social work background was of great value. It gave me that appreciation of how the same issues can affect each person in a completely different way and that you need to talk to them specifically and spend time with them, it showed me what I actually wanted to do! And now I feel I have found that missing part and I am doing what I am supposed to do with my life. I have found my purpose.

I gain immense satisfaction form working on that one to one level, from seeing a person reach an understanding of themselves and being able to grow from that understanding and self-awareness and become who they want to be. I find this immensely fulfilling and rewarding. I fully believe that once a person removes all the layers that have been built around them, they can find themselves and have confidence in who they are.

My Values

Some of the beliefs I old strong are that we are entitled to be are authentic selves, that we are allowed to be comfortable with who we are. I believe we can learn that if we don’t already have it and sometimes we might need some help. That is my role.

I believe that it can take courage and the time needed to learn and grow and transform. I believe that the tools of exploration and contemplation can lead us to peace and self-acceptance.

To sum it up in my favourite quote from the poet E.E. Cummings, ‘It takes courage to grow up and become who we really are’.

Please make initial contact whichever way you prefer, either by email or by phone. Once I have had contact with you and if we decide that we’d like to go forward, we will set up a time that meets both our schedules. The cost is £40 per hour.

Confidentiality

There is no greater respect for clients than protecting their private information.  Clients share with me their most private and personal information, therefore keeping appropriate records and storing those records in accordance with the Data Protection Act is vital.  Confidentiality honours ‘the trust placed in the practitioner’, it is the cornerstone of good practice, as without it clients cannot feel safe.  Records are stored in a locked cabinet, in a safe place.
